That should leave you with a working computer without having to do a re-install. Use something like the freeware ONYX to clear all the caches. This will wipe most if not all personal information. Instead of wiping it entirely, why not use the Users preferences panel to create a new administrative user and delete the exising user profile. Then delete any files on the hard drive that are not in a system folder, library folder, users folder or applications folder (ask if you have doubts).

Even each VERSION for each platform is treated separately, though this may appear seamless. It is the Financial Institution/Bank that makes the decision as to which service is supported for which, as they have to pay license and support fees. So you need to make sure that your FI/Bank supports the specific platform and version of your choice. One more note re: Direct Connect don’t count on the Quicken official page to know if your bank supports Direct Connect with Mac 2017. My bank is (was) listed as one of the 400 supporting DC. After a number of failed attempts to establish DC with my bank their tech support team told me that they had only recently established support for Mac 2016 and do not yet support DC for Mac 2017.
